Rules for swimming. Orion roberts. 5 basic rules for swimming. All single races must be kept as separate gender events. A swimmer has to swim over the course alone to cover the whole distance to qualify. The swimmer must stay and finish the race in the same lane in which he/she started.

  2. 5 basic rules for swimming • All single races must be kept as separate gender events. • A swimmer has to swim over the course alone to cover the whole distance to qualify. • The swimmer must stay and finish the race in the same lane in which he/she started. • a swimmer when turning has to touch with the end of the pool. The turn must be made from the wall, and it is not allowed to take a stride or step from the bottom of the pool. • Pulling on the lane rope is not allowed.

  3. Assessing the rules • False start - Any swimmer starting before the starting signal has been given shall be disqualified if the Referee sees and confirms the Starter’s observation that a false start has happened. Yes, I think its fair but I also think that the person who has false started deserves a second chance.

  4. Regulations • The minimum requirements for competition: • Referee (1) • Control-room supervisor (1) • Judges of stroke (4) • Starters (2) • Chief Inspector of Turns (2, 1 at each end of the pool) • Inspector of Turns (1 at each end of each lane) • Clerk of courses (2) • Announcer (1) • Chief Classifier (1) and Classifiers (suitable number)

  5. Swim wear • Swimwear may only a swimsuit, cap, and goggles. Armbands or leg bands may not be allowed as parts of the swimsuit. • Swimsuits worn for races may not be non transparent. • No swimmers are allowed to wear or use any tool, substance or swimsuit to help themselves become faster or have more buoyancy or endurance during a race.

  6. Swimming pool • Length 50 meters (164 ft) • Width 25 meters (82 ft) • Number of lanes 10 • Lane width2.5 m (8 ft 2 in)
