  2. In international fellowsand residents conference in ISMICS2008, we are inspired to establish the Japanese Association of Young Cardiac Surgeon. Why? ・The postgraduate surgical education for cardiac surgeons in Japan seems to be less standardized. ・The education is more dependent on each institutional program. ISMICS2009 San Francisco

  3. Japanese Association of Young Cardiac Surgeons was established in 2008 with the following aims and goals. 1. To promote education of young cardiac surgeons on surgical skill and knowledge. 2. To improve the quality of the training of young cardiac surgeons through the communication among young cardiac surgeons gathering from all over the country regardless of the program. 3. To enhance learning by organizing educational conferences and inviting lecturers who have leadership in surgical education. 4. To provide better patient care with the concert effort between the supervising surgeons and training surgeons. 5. To provide efficient patient care taking global view point into consideration. 6. To offer the opportunity of communication and interaction to Japanese young cardiac surgeons. ISMICS2009 San Francisco

  4. Members for JAYCS Total members: 159 (trained in 106 institutes, including 24 institutes abroad) Member: 139Adviser: 16 HP member: 4 ISMICS2009 San Francisco

  5. Grades of members 1. Individual Members shall be cardiovascular surgeons who graduated no more than 15 years ago. 2. Cardiac surgeons who graduated 16 or more years ago shall be able to counsel Individual Members as advisors. ISMICS2009 San Francisco

Organization ・One representative Director, Shin Takabayashi ・Up to 15 Directors 1) A minimum of one director assigned from each of the five regions in Japan (Hokkaido-Tohoku, Kanto, Tokai-Hokuriku-Kinki, Chugoku-Shikoku, Kyushu-Okinawa). 2) No more than two directors from the same medical office. ・Accounting Auditors, Naoto Miyagi and Hiroo Takayama ・Up to two Consultants Dr. Shinichi Takamoto: President of the Japanese Society for Cardiovascular Surgery ISMICS2009 San Francisco

  7. Funding The following revenues shall be appropriated to the expenses needed for running JAYCS. ・Participation fees ・Support provided by Supporting Members ・Donations ・Director deposits ・Other miscellaneous revenue ISMICS2009 San Francisco

  8. Activities ・Seminars designed to improve the skills, knowledge and awareness of young cardiac surgeons (once a year, at the Japanese Society for Cardiovascular Surgery). ・Study groups designed to improve the knowledge of young cardiac surgeons (twice a year at the Japanese Association for Thoracic Surgery and the Japanese Society for Cardiovascular Surgery). ・Meetings for members to exchange views and opinions with each other.
