  6. Choosing a Topic • Select a topic that matters to you • Select a topic appropriate to the speaking occasion - physical setting, occasion, etc. • Select a topic appropriate to your audience - It is your chance to affect others

  7. Choosing a Topic • Narrow your topic • Focus on a particular angle of a topic • Mind-map • Brainstorm
