  8. Now see if you can determine the meanings of words with prefixes and suffixes.

  9. Blaine was a good swimmer and dancer.

  10. However, he’d never used these skills to dive off the diving board.

  11. His friend Marta told him how to do a flip.

  12. “That sounds impossible,” said Blaine.

  13. Then Marta showed him how to do it.

  14. She was a good teacher.

  15. So Blaine gave it a try.

  16. His flip was imperfect, but not bad for a first try.
