  1. Error 15240: Unable to update Payroll File Exists: Unable to open specified file. Kindly assures that it is not being used by another program. How to resolve it This error has been fixed in the latest release for QuickBooks Desktop 2014. If updating your QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release does not resolve the issue, and then use the following workarounds: Workaround 1: Run your QuickBooks Desktop as administrator Right click on the icon of QuickBooks program on your desktop and run as Administrator. Workaround 2: Make sure your Windows permissions are set correctly for QuickBooks Desktop to function Workaround 3: Assure SSL 2 is checked in Internet Options Workaround 4: Reinstall using a clean install If Error is not resolved then call toll free number of QuickBooks technical support.
