  13. Complementary conclusions Language use among young people in informal situations is a complex social phenomenon. This level of complexity should be taken into consideration at all times. Language use is influenced by a multitude of interlinked factors. It is difficult to discern where the influence of any given factor starts and ends. At the same time, an attempt at an approximation is essential. The factors identified by both young people and the experts with experience of working with young people are generally very similar. Young people tend to consider their own context as widespread and unique. They find it harder to put themselves in the position of young people who have had different experiences. The exercise has confirmed that the model resulting from the analysis should be at once general and adaptable. When it came to ranking the factors, the individual level was clearly more prominent among young people. They placed more factors at this level than the experts did. The reason behind this could be the idea that language use can be understood as an exclusively personal choice.
