Reducing Falls The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention launching free on-line course to physicians, nurses and other health professionals on making falls prevention a routine part of clinical care National promotion of 2015 Falls Prevention Awareness Day in September Previewed Falls Prevention Toolkit for Pharmacists 7

Improving Safety and Care in Long Term Care Requiring staff training on caring for residents with dementia and in preventing elder abuse Ensuring staff have the right skill sets and competencies to provide person-centered care to residents Requiring nursing homes to provide greater food choice for residents while also giving flexibility for nursing homes 8

Improving Dementia Care The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) created Alzheimer’s and Related Dementia training on quality dementia care and accurate detection/diagnosis The Office of Women’s Health is developing training to help family caregivers maximize their health and addresses specific care needs of persons with dementia 9

Improving Health The Surgeon General is Partnering with YMCA to encourage intergenerational physical activity The Administration for Community Living (ACL) is launching a $4 million Brain Health Awareness Campaign The National Institutes of Health is promoting its Go4Life exercise and physical activity campaign for older adults 10

Health and Nutrition U.S. Department of Agriculture is increasing accessibility to critical nutrition programs for homebound, older Americans and people with disabilities by enabling Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits to be used for services that purchase and deliver food to these households. 11

Combating Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation Department of Justice revising Victim Assistance Programs so that funds may be used to support social and legal services for elder victims of abuse, financial exploitation, fraud, and neglect ACL developing National Adult Maltreatment Reporting System and Voluntary Guidelines for Adult Protective Services; Created Office of Elder Justice 12

Retirement Security The National Resource Center on Women and Retirement Planning educating importance of rolling over their retirement savings in order to prevent adverse consequences Department of the Treasury introduced myRA, a simple, safe, and no-fee savings option accessible to individuals who may not have access to retirement accounts   13
