  1. INCORPORATING TECHNOLOGY TO INFUSE GLOBAL OUTREACH TO THE WORLD LANGUAGE AndalleMandjiny

  2. What is Global Education? • The Maastricht Global Education Declaration (2002) states: • Global education is education that opens people’s eyes and minds to the realities of the globalised world and awakens them to bring about a world of greater justice, equity and Human Rights for all. • Global education is understood to encompass Development Education, Human Rights Education, Education for Sustainability, Education for Peace and Conflict Prevention and Intercultural Education; being the global dimension of Education for Citizenship.

  3. Our Focus • As Foreign Language Teachers, we have been the first group to focus our student’s attention to the world around us. • Today with the abundance of technology available to us, it is easier than ever to learn with the world about the world!

  4. Are You Up for the Challenge? • Being overwhelmed by the technology is not a solution! • Learn a couple of new things. • Implement them in your class within the framework of your lesson plans. • Evaluate and assess how to make them your own. • Slowly increase the difficulty level of the tools you use.

Types of Tools • For the Educator • Online quizzes • Online game makers • Online multi media presentations • Creating movies • Creating varieties of multimedia support. • Smart Board • For the Students - Photo story 3 - Web quests - Interactive games - Incorporating Audio - Windows movie makers • Use of Flip and Digital Cameras

  6. What types of tools do you use now? • In your groups discuss the tools that you are currenly using in your classrooms?

  7. How do you Rank Yourself? • If you are currently using technology in your lessons, how would you rate yourself? • Did you learn the technology by yourself or did you take classes? • How much time did you have to spend to master the programs? • Today, tools available online are usually easy to master and offer step by step assistance in setting it up.

  8. Student Involvement • When a new technology is employed with students, make sure you know how to trouble shoot before attempting the assignment. • Prepare for problems and find the answers as this is more than likely to happen. • Test the assignment with a fairly independent class, to weed out any weaknesses before expanding to all of your other sections.

  9. 21st Century Learners • Proficient in a wide variety of topics but still learners in the tools that we would like them to use, some of them essentials they should have learned in their CTE classes. • Include a disciplinary action plan, for contingencies where students are not following your instructions and are in sites that you did not allow.
