  1. Welcome to Grafton TAFE Library Getting Started

  2. Library staff The library has a staff of 2 full-time librarians who are always available to assist you in using the library. The Acting Library Manager is Mrs Jill Enks and she is assisted by Mrs Kerry Watson PLEASE DO NOT HESITATE TO ASK FOR HELP!

  3. General library rules • No food or drink • No smoking • No talking on mobile phones

  4. What are the library's opening hours? Term: • Monday & Thursday 8:45am – 5.00pm. • Tuesday & Wednesday 8:45am – 6.00pm. • Friday 8:45am – 3.00pm. Holidays: • Monday – Thursday 9.30am-12.30pm; 2pm-4pm • Friday – CLOSED As holiday hours are subject to change, please check with library staff before each holiday period.

  5. What can I find in the library? • Books to help you with your course • Novels for general reading • Videos and DVDs (course-related) • Magazines • Daily newspapers • Music CDs (for Student Association members only) • Digital cameras and laptops (for Student Association members only)

  6. How many items can I borrow and how long can I borrow them for? • You can borrow 6 items at one time. • You can borrow books and magazines for 2 weeks, and videos and DVDs for 1 week. • You can renew your loans twice, if they are not reserved by another student or teacher. • Some popular course-related books are available for loan for 1 week only. • Reference books, newspapers and “closed reserve” items can only be read in the library.

  7. What happens if I don’t return my books on time? • If you have overdue items you will receive two notices in the mail to remind you to return them. • If you still don’t return the material, you will be fined $10 per item. • Please contact the library if you need an extension on any of your loans.

  8. How do I borrow? • You bring the items you wish to borrow to the circulation desk. • Your TAFEcard is also your library card. • If you haven’t received your TAFEcard, you can still borrow if you have had your photo taken.

  9. Does the library have computers for student use? • The library has 12 computers for students to use for course-related work. • They are installed with Office 2007 and are connected to the Internet. • You cannot book a computer, they are allocated on a “first in, first served” basis. • Computer 7 has a scanner attached to it.

  10. Does the library have photocopying and printing facilities? • The library has a print server and a photocopier. • You need to buy a separate card for each from the front office. • Copies and printouts are 10c per page (black & white) and colour printouts are available for $1 per page.
