Some Things to Note • Degree plans: these are checksheets for planning courses to take • Course numbering: • Last digit = number of credit hours (class meeting hours per week) • PE 1002: 2 credit hours • PHYS 1103: 3 credit hours • PHYS 1101: 1 credit hour • First digit = level (suggested, but not absolute) • CIT 1503: Freshman • ECON 2113: Sophomore • FIN 3713: Junior • MGMT 4813: Senior • Next advising • Late October (prior to Spring registration) • Make appointment then with advisor • Who’s your advisor? • Go to http://Business.AState.edu/CIT • Click on the “Students” tab • Select “Advisor lookup” link

First Semester Courses • Computer applications (CIT 1503) • FYE course (BUSN 1913-004) • English (ENG 1003) • Math • Other • Sociology (SOC 2213-001) if CIT major • Fine Arts (MUS 2503, THEA 2503, ART 2503) • Science (lecture & lab) if BTech major • Biological Science (e.g., BIOL 1003 & 1001) or • Physical Science (e.g., PHSC 1203 & 1201)

Try to Plan Ahead • Before taking upper level courses, you must complete the Business foundation • Computer applications • Economics (2 courses) • Accounting (2 courses) • Statistics • English and Math • Therefore plan on starting foundation courses first semester sophomore year • Note one suggested 4-year sequence • CIT • BTech

Extra-Curricular Opportunities • Get involved in student organizations • Some suggestions: • AITP (the Association for Information Technology Professionals) • APICS (the Association for Operations Management) • Look for leadership and experience opportunities • Note: no Business classes are scheduled for Wednesdays at 12:00-1:00, so plan on setting this time aside for organizational activities

Getting Registered • Have your advisor sign your form (“blue sheet”) and give it to the SSC representative, who will return it to you before you leave here • Determine the courses you need • First, remedy deficiencies (per “blue sheet”); if necessary, see www.clt.astate.edu/advising/holds.htm • Typical load is 15 hours (requires about 45-60 hours per week) • List 5-7 courses • Wise to have Plan B (and Plan C and . . . ) • Develop a tentative schedule • Use worksheet (“NSO Registration Form”) • No more than 12 hours on MWF • No more than 9 hours on TTh • Find the following information for each course • Course number & section (e.g., CIT 1503-001) • Call number (e.g., 61549) • Day/time (e.g., MWF 9:00-9:50 AM) • If applicable, sign the four-year guarantee (refer to degree sequencing) • Proceed to Computer Lab (LIB 149, across from Grad School) and register

Math Info • Required course for CIT majors: MATH 2143 • Prerequisite is college level Algebra or higher • MATH 1023 (counts as “elective” credit) or • Math ACT >= 24 • May need to remedy deficiencies • MATH 0003 (Developmental Algebra) • MATH 0013 (Intermediate Algebra) • Other Calculus acceptable as substitute • Required course for BTech majors: MATH 2143 • Maintain progression of quantitative courses each semester • Algebra (if required) • Calculus • Statistics (ECON 2113) • Finance (FIN 3713) • Operations (CIT 3523)
