    2. I Can Literature, Part I GLE 0101.2.2 I canretell the setting, characters, and what happened in a story. I canmemorize a poem, story and song. GLE 0101.8.1 I can read different kinds of things like picture book s, alphabet and number books, rhyming books, storybooks, fairy tales, poetry, and nonfiction. GLE 0101.8.2 I know the parts of a book, such as, front cover and back cover, table of contents, index, glossary, title page, author, and illustrator. I canmake predictions about a story. I can organize my ideas on a web, chart, or a Venn diagram I know different ways to help me understand while I am reading. (asking questions, discussion, predicting, mental images, illustrations, 5 Ws, experiences) 2

    3. I Can Literature, Part II GLE 0101.8.3 I can read to my classmates and in small groups. I can read simple books and the sight words in those books. I can read aloud as if I was speaking to someone. GLE 0101.8.4 I can describe the meaning of Fantasy Reality Character Plot setting I know the difference between fantasy and reality. I know fiction means not real. I know non-fiction means something that can really happen. I knowthat stories can be real or make-believe. I cantell the characters, plot, and setting of a story. 3

I can decide what is going to happen next in something I have read or heard. I can change my decision about what is going to happen in what I am reading and hearing. 7

I can use capital letters in the first word of a sentence, at the beginning of first and last names, for writing the word I, and with nouns that name people and places.
