    1. What is a Political Party? Republicans, Democrats, Conservatives and Liberals and others ~ What do they believe?

    3. What is a political party? A political party is a political organization that subscribes to a certain ideology and seeks to attain political power within a government. The party's policies often represent an aggregation (collection) of interests within the party, which will inevitably vary considerably even between party members. The United States runs on what is called a two part system (Republicans and/or Democrats have most of the power in the government although other parties do exist). Examples of political parties: Republican, Democrat, 3rd parties include ~ Green Party

    4. 3rd Parties in U.S. Government There have been many in U.S. history. Some Current U.S. 3rd parties: Libertarian Party (1971 Present) Constitution Party (formerly the U.S. Taxpayers Party) (1992 Present) Green Party

    5. Current Minor and Regional Parties These parties do not have ballot status for their presidential candidate in enough states to have even a theoretical chance to win. Some do not have presidential candidates at all, but do have candidates for other offices. Examples: American Reform Party Labor Party

    6. What do Republicans Support/Believe? (simplified) It is a political party They are generally conservative believe in: the reduction of government the status quo (keeping things the same) They fall on the right side of the political spectrum.

    7. What do Conservatives believe? (simplified) Not a political party ~ a belief system They fall on the right side of the political ideology spectrum Favor keeping things the way they are. usually hesitant or cautious about adopting new policies, especially if they involve government activism. Constitution should remain constant through the years Favors tradition over change They feel that the less government there is, the better. They especially want less government concerning economic matters. They actually support more government involvement in social matters.

    8. What do Democrats Support/Believe? (simplified) It is a political party They are generally liberal believe in: government regulation of the economy and greater support of social programs gradual change They fall on the left side of the political spectrum.

    9. What do Liberals believe? (simplified) Not a political part ~ a belief system They fall on the left of the political ideology spectrum. They believe/favor government should be actively involved in the promotion of social well being of the nations citizens. call for peaceful, gradual change within the political system. Constitutional interpretation may change as modern society evolves Change over tradition They especially support more government concerning economic matters. They actually support less government involvement in social matters. Support change

In politics and religion, a moderate is an individual who holds an intermediate position between those generally classified as being left-wing (liberal ) and those seen as being right-wing (conservative) or fundamentalist. Opposed to extremes in political beliefs The word "moderate" can also be used as an adjective describing such a position.

Totalitarian Definition of totalitarian: A political system based on absolute power of a single party or dictator. a person who follows or supports totalitarianism What do totalitarians believe? They fall to the far right on the political ideology spectrum Believe in complete government control of economic and social issues.

Libertarian Definition of: A philosophy based on the principle that individuals should be allowed complete freedom of action as long as they do not infringe on the same freedom of others. a person who belongs to the Libertarian political party. What do libertarians believe? They fall to the far left of the political ideology spectrum Believe in minimal government control of both economic and social issues.
