USM Family

The GE USM 32X & 35X flaw detectors offer robustness and an extended temperature range of use from 0°C to +60°C. With IP66 environmental protection, these detectors are resistant to dust, water, heavy rain, and sea spray. They also come with an extended operating time of up to 14 hours.

What is IP 66? • Environmental protection level: IP 66 according to IEC 529: 1989 • IP 66 means: • that the instrument is totally protected against dust. • It is also protected against water • heavy rain • sea spray • Up to powerful jets of water from any directions GE Proprietary Information Subject to restrictions on the cover or first page

USM 32 & USM 35 has now in the X • An IP 66 environmental protection • An improved robustness • An extended temperature range of use: • From 0°C to +60°C • -10°C possible under special request • An extended operating time range: • Up to 14 hours of use • JIS DAC and JFlank. Explanation of selling features • Jflank time of flight measurement : • 6 DAC curves are drawn on the screen • 4 areas are defined between the the 4 major curves:L, M, H, and U • The instrument automatically classify the flaw depending of the area where it occurred (I, II, III, IV) • The reference curve can be selected (bold curve) GE Proprietary Information Subject to restrictions on the cover or first page

  18. Value calculations Extended operating time • It happen that an instrument runs out of battery before the end of an inspection. In this case: • A couple of hours are lost to partially charge the battery (costs :$100 each time) • Or an additional battery and an external battery charger has to be purchased: TBA) • The 14 hours extended battery life represents 2 shifts at 80 to 90% of operation, minimizing drastically the risk of running out of battery. Value calculations New features: Jflank, New DAC recording function • A substantial economy can be realized by reducing the time lost by the operator to operate the instrument. • Jflank will reduce gate adjustments • The new DAC recording function will automatically optimize the amplitude of the echo while recording the references.
