  1. My role as a social studies teacher is to facilitate – through the exploration of history and government – your student’s transformation from a follower into a leader.

  2. Facilitate – Student centered classroom (Students teaching each other, discussions, project based learning, experiential learning, technology) • Exploration – (Word of action) Primary/ secondary sources, multiple perspectives, creative assignments

  3. What does a follower do? • Does/ believes what he/ she is told • Accepts things as they are (fated/ fixed – poverty/ intelligence) • Acted upon by the world

  4. What does a leader do? • Makes his/ her own decisions • Forms his/ her own opinions • Determines his or her own fate • Holds others accountable • Acts as a catalyst for change
