  2. LIVESTRONG at the YMCA - Overview A twelve-week, small group physical activity and exercise program designed for adult cancer survivors. • Support transition between treatment and post-treatment • Help to regain strength and energy • Community-based | SUPPORTING HEALTHY LIFESTYLES

LIVESTRONG at the YMCA – NEED According to the LIVESTRONG 2010 Survey of more than 3000 post-treatment cancer survivors: • 86% reported experiencing at least one physical concern • Most frequent concerns were energy and rest, concentration, and sexual functioning • Each concern caused significant functional impairment in respondents to varying degrees • Energy was the highest-rated concern (53%) • 44% reported not receiving care for this concern v. 9% who reported having their needs addressed in some way • Consistent with our 2006 survey findings (n=2,307) | SUPPORTING HEALTHY LIFESTYLES

LIVESTRONG at the YMCA – NEED According to the LIVESTRONG 2010 Survey of more than 3000 post-treatment cancer survivors: • 93% reported experiencing at least one emotional concern • Most frequent concerns were fear of recurrence, sadness and depression, grief and identity • Changes in personal appearance was also highly ranked (31%) • Vast majority of respondent for all categories reported not having received care for these concerns | SUPPORTING HEALTHY LIFESTYLES

LIVESTRONG at the YMCA – Rationale Research has indicated that physical activity after cancer treatment: • Helps reduce fatigue and improve mood • Increase muscle strength and physical endurance YMCA is one of the U.S.’s largest not-for-profit providers of health and well-being programs: • 57% of U.S. households live within 3 miles of a Y • Have global partnerships to expand reach outside the U.S. | SUPPORTING HEALTHY LIFESTYLES

LIVESTRONG at the YMCA - goals Through structured programs and individualized goals, LIVESTRONG at the YMCA aims to help survivors: • Build muscle mass and muscle strength • Increase flexibility and endurance • Improve functional ability • Reduce severity of side-effects • Prevent unwanted weight changes • Improve energy levels • Improve self esteem • Develop their own personal long-term program • Feel connected to a supportive community | SUPPORTING HEALTHY LIFESTYLES

LIVESTRONG at the YMCA – OUTCOMES By the end of 2011: • LIVESTRONG at the Y will be available in nearly 200 Ys across the U.S. • 56% improved leg strength • 45% improved upper body strength • 85% increased their core (abdominal) strength • 60% improved aerobic capacity We are continuing to evaluate the program and its impact, and designing a longitudinal research study to demonstrate effectiveness | SUPPORTING HEALTHY LIFESTYLES
