  2. Each student will receive a Course Catalog THURSDAY • The Course Catalog contains descriptions of all the courses listed on the elective form • Please review it with your son/daughter so that they can make an informed decision.

  3. Required courses for next year English Math Science Global History and Geography 9 Physical Education Elective

  5. 1 credit in a Foreign Language is required for any diploma: • Earn one unit of credit by passing the final exam in Jr. High • Earn 1 unit of credit by passing a high school language course  French  German Spanish or

  6. 1 Unit of Art/Music or Equivalent is required for graduation • Any of the following courses will satisfy this requirement. • Band • Orchestra • Chorus • Studio in Art (intended for Art majors only) • DDP (Design and Drawing for Production)

  7. ProcedureRead the course descriptions in the Course Catalog • Make your first choice by putting number “1” in the accompanying box • Make your second choice by putting a number “2” in the accompanying box

  10. Every student needs at least 22credits to graduate!

  11. How are credits awarded? 1 unit of credit is awarded for each course that meets every day, all year, with a passing grade of 65. ½ unit of credit is awarded for courses that meet every day for ½ the year with a passing grade of 65. ½ unit of credit is awarded for courses that meet every-other-day, all year with a passing grade of 65, (P.E.) Or meet ½ the year, every-other-day for two consecutive periods (Food and Nutrition, Advanced Food)

  12. Types of High School Diplomas • Regents Diploma with Advanced Designation same requirements as the Regents Diploma plus passing marks on the Biology, Geometry, Algebra 2 & Trig, and Language Other Than English* exams • Regents Diploma requires passing five NYS Regents Exams – one each in Science, Integrated Algebra, Global History, American History, and English.

  13. ARE YOU COLLEGE AND CAREER READY? Score an 80 on the Integrated Algebra Regents! Score a 75 on the English Regents! We encourage all students to retake the exams in August to earn College and Career Readiness status.

  14. How and when can I go to BOCES? In order to attend BOCES, students must: • Be a junior • Have earned credit in English 9, English 10, Global 9 and/or global 10 (3 of the 4 courses) • Have earned at least 9 units of credit • Have an 85% attendance rate in the previous year
