  2. STARTER Holidays Fair and safe conditions Fair wages Do you remember this picture? What rights should workers in Britain have today? The right to strike Fair hours of work Do you think that these people had any of the above rights? Do you think that they actually cared?

  3. "The Crede of Piers the Ploughman". It was written by William Langland about 600 years ago. 1. In your own words but using the poem, describe what the life of the poor was like according to William Langland. 2. This is a sad poem. Which words and phrases make it sad ? EXTENSION ONLY. One writer from Medieval England called life then "nasty, brutal and short". Does the poem by Langland agree with this description ? Explain your answer.

  4. A Medieval Workers’ Calendar On the left is a description of the work done by a peasant in medieval times. You must divide a double page into 12 boxes and produce a month timeline using pictures and words to show the work done during a year. Try to explain how the workers would be feeling about the work and some of the problems they would be having. Extension people try to explain why they would be doing certain jobs at certain times and say how in the future these jobs could be made easier. There is no pay but you get to live on the land

Now that you have seen the jobs done by people in the medieval countryside come up with a list of things that they would be unhappy about with some solutions to these problems.
