  1. Item 12: District uses a process to report policy relevant information to outside entities

  2. Example

  3. DIT Identified a Problem: The state adopted a new state-wide assessment with a timeline that spanned across the time the district was expected to begin spring benchmark assessment for literacy, which also coincided with the time reading and behavior fidelity assessments were to be completed and also overlapped with when high school students were taking SAT’s. DIT Communicated to RIT RIT responded by altering the window of time that the fidelity assessments could be completed by the building team so that it didn’t overlap with so many other assessments. RIT Communicated to State State moved the timeline for the state-wide assessment to 1 week earlier. Item 12 Scenario: Barrier

  4. DIT Identifies a celebration regarding a policy: The district changed their attendance policy and practices to a more proactive, supportive response, rather than a punitive one. This change has correlated with an increase in attendance which further correlated with an increased graduation rate over the past 2 years. DIT Communicated to RIT: This change is shared with the RIT, who seizes the opportunity to share this change in policy and practices with other districts struggling with graduation rates and student performance at school. RIT Communicated to State-Wide Organization: Ideas about changes to practices and policies regarding attendance are shared and operationalized so that other districts can replicate this and districts around the state move towards more supportive and proactive approaches. Student outcomes increase and eventually graduation rates, state-wide, increase. Item 12 Scenario: Celebration

  5. When a DIT encounters a barrier outside their realm of control/influence, or wants to communicate a celebration, the District MTSS-C will contact the ISD MTSS-C to describe the barrier or celebration and its implications for moving the DIT’s work forward. The ISD MTSS-C will assess the urgency and decide how and when best to bring that barrier or celebration to the ISD Implementation Team and/or the ISD Liaison. From there the ISD will utilize the Plan, Do, Study Act cycle to develop a plan. If the barrieror celebration is influenced by factors outside the realm of the ISD’s control, the ISD will identify the appropriate point person at the ISD to make contact with the appropriate point person at the state level for further problem solving or sharing of learning. The ISD MTSS-C will be responsible for maintaining the communication loop back to the district MTSS-C. Example of documenting a process:
