  2. Men And Women Know A Lot About Their Own Sexuality, But Not A Lot About The Sexuality Of The Opposite Gender • I formed this hypothesis after talking to friends about a college course I was taking.

  3. …“And the survey says…” • Since surveys are the least intrusive way to gather information about sensitive subjects, I decided to use this method to gather data. • To get a large enough data group, I posted my survey on FaceBook. With over 1,000 “friends” I figured I would get a HUGE sample of data. • I think, in part, because there was no way to remain anonymous, people were leery to respond. I had just 5 people respond; all family members. • Because I also wanted to gauge general human sexuality knowledge, I included 28 other questions on the survey. I think this also contributed to not having a lot of respondents on FB. • So I surveyed co-workers, and I eventually had 37 people respond. 18 men and 19 women.

  4. …“And the survey says…” continued • I found that as long as they could remain anonymous, most people were willing to respond to the survey. • After beginning the survey, I had one person say they were uncomfortable with the questions; they did not complete the survey. • When I asked, I had 3 people say they were not interested in participating in the survey. They gave no specific reason. • 8 respondents wanted to know their “score” and their missed questions with correct answers.

  6. Rejected Hypothesis The hypothesis: Men And Women Know A Lot About Their Own Sexuality, But Not A Lot About The Sexuality Of The Opposite Gender appears to be rejected by the data I collected. The data would actually suggest that both men and women know much more about men’s sexuality than they do about women’s sexuality. And that neither men nor women know a lot about women’s sexuality. This would follow the statistics showing that we still are more “accepting” about openness about a man’s sexuality than we are about a woman’s sexuality. We still refer to a very sexual woman as a “slut”, but a very sexual man as “sexy”.
