  3. Causes of habitat destruction • Pollution • Acid rain • Global warming • Species introduction/invasive species • Loss of keystone species

  4. Pollution • Smog -haze from car exhaust and factory smoke.

  5. Acid Rain • Pollutants combine with water vapor

  6. Greenhouse Effect and global warming • Greenhouse effect- Carbon Dioxide holds in heat (like a greenhouse). • Global Warming- Increase in global temperatures because of: - fuel burning -clearing the land of trees

  7. Invasive Species • Humans move organisms from native area to new area. Organisms that are moved usually harm native species.

  8. Keystone species • An organism that has an unusually large effect on an ecosystem
