CCOM PCW • Organization of CCOM PCW is headed by AMSA &FMIG • BUT, participation by many student organizations is ESSENTIAL to launching a successful week! • Each Organization (or two partnered organizations) contribute one lunch meeting event or evening activity • Currently • Monday, October 8th • FMIG | Dr. Paul James | MERF 1117 • -“the patient centered medical home and the role family physicians have in achieving the triple aims of improving the quality of care and access to care while reducing the expenditures within healthcare.” • Friday, October 12th • AMSA | working with Penny • -Healthcare disparities OR healthcare reform

  4. your role • Plan Events for Tuesday, Wednesday • Thursday free day?? • M1s: Genetics exam • M2s: Pharmacology exam • Collaborate!! • PIG, GIG, IMIG, GMS, EMIG • increase interactive activities/use the talks to highlight current issues (FMIG and medical home) • ADVERTIZE & promote ATTENDANCE • your members especially • CCOM students • YOU! • Contribute ideas/feedback for more events/activities

  5. other activities • Tabling throughout the week • Primary Care Education • increase interest in primary care specialties • educate future physicians on importance/impact of primary care on health locally and globally • What is ‘primary care’? • please contribute primary care facts relevant to your interest group!!! • -example: EMIG—impact (health outcomes, financial) of using ERs as point of access centers for primary care • -’Google Drive’ link will be sent to you via email • Survey • evaluate medical student interest and knowledge of primary care • promote student participation through a prize raffle! • share data with administration • -pre and post PCW week?
