  3. Help Her To Be Prepared Each day she needs: • A pen and a spare pen • A pencil, ruler, eraser, sharpener etc. • Maths equipment – calculator, protractor, ruler etc. • Pencil crayons. • PE Kit (when necessary) • Hi-lighters (useful for picking out key ideas / words in lessons). • L2L Passport

  4. Questions to ask your daughter… • What did you learn today? • Have you got homework? • What are your targets? • How can you improve?

  5. Diaries / Planners • All pupils have planners to help them record their homework and useful information as well as targets. This help them to organise themselves. • Please check them and sign them each week. • Please ensure they have their diary each day for school.

  6. At home... HW should be done (ideally) on the night set. Provide a quiet place to study. Quiet music can help concentration whilst doing HW. No TV while doing homework.Have a pot of pens / pencils available to do HW easily. Encourage her to do HW efficiently (max 30 - 35 mins per subject).

  7. HW Clubs / Support • Homework can be done in school at lunchtimes – Rm23, Library, Net2 – all open and supervised. • After-school – Network Rms open • Thursday nights in Library – Mrs Deakin offers support

  8. Health • Breakfast – helps concentration and behaviour. • Lunch – TGGS Canteen, healthy pack-up. • Snacks – low sugar, de-caffeinated drinks, fruit (banana factor). • Relaxation & fun-very important (school is not just about study). • Exercise – pupils learn better. • Multi-vitamins help to resist infections.

  9. Water bottles • Pupils are allowed to drink water throughout lessons and in exams. Water fountains have been installed throughout the school. • Fizzy and caffeine filled drinks dehydrate the brain. • Please ensure your daughter has a water-bottle with her.

  10. Important Dates: • 2nd December - Pupil Guidance Day 1 – accompany your daughter if you can. Listen to her reviewing work and setting targets. • 24th March – Pupil Guidance Day 2 – reviewing of targets and work. Setting new targets for the year. • 11th May – Yr7 exams start. • 13th July – Yr7 Parents’ Evening.
