AR-CMDB-INSTALLATION-TIPS. PRE-REQUISITS. You need to install instance of one Relational Database (MSSQL,ORACLE..etc) . You must install JDK 6.X onwards . You must install Tomcat 6.X onwards . (We recommend Tomcat 6.X over 7.X). SETUP STEPS – MSSQL-2005.

  1. AR-CMDB-INSTALLATION-TIPS

  2. PRE-REQUISITS • You need to install instance of one Relational Database (MSSQL,ORACLE..etc) . • You must install JDK 6.X onwards . • You must install Tomcat 6.X onwards . (We recommend Tomcat 6.X over 7.X).

  3. SETUP STEPS – MSSQL-2005 • Run setup.exe from %setup-path-%\sql_inst\sql_2005_ent\Servers (my case it is at C:\sql_inst\sql_2005_ent\Servers\setup.exe) . • Accept Licensing Terms & Conditions • Click "Install" (This will install .NET framework) • Click "Next“ • Click "Next" (Ignore IIS) • Registration Information: Click "Next“ • Components to install: Select All components & Click "Next“ • Instance Name: Select "Default Instance" (MSSQLSERVER) • Service Account: Select "Use the built-in System Account (Local System)" -> Click "Next“ • Authentication Mode: Select Mixed Mode -> specify 'sa' password: 'bmcAdm1n' -> Click "Next"

SETUP STEPS – MSSQL-2005 Cnt-1 • Collation Setting: Keep Default -> Click "Next“ • Report Server Installation Option -> Click "Next“ • Error and Usage Report Setting: Keep Default -> Click "Next“ • Click "Install“ • Time for cup of Coffee (It will take 10-30 Minutes to complete installation) • Click "Next“ • Click "Finish“ • Restart your VM once. • Lets see the snapshots of above steps now.

  5. SETUP STEPS – MSSQL-2008 • All the steps for installing MSSQL Server 2008 are same as 2003. • If you are planning to use MSSQL Server 2008 with Windows Server 2008 then don’t do any installation. • Please ask IT to load template of Windows Server 2008 R2 + MSSQL 2008 R2 directly. This will save lot of time .

SETUP GUIDE FOR AR-7.6.04.SP2 • Please take installer from : http://iamslite.eng.remedy.com/smbufs1/build_ars/release/ars/7604SP2/nightly/AR-7604-SP2-GA/epd/windows/ARSuiteKitWindows.zip • Please refer to below link if you want to install any AR based product : http://iamslite.eng.remedy.com/smbufs1/ • If you don’t get the nightly GA build on above links then you have to take the build from BMC- EPD . • You need to run “setup.cmd” (on windows) located in your installer disk-1. • Lets see all installation screen shots .

  7. ADDING LICENSE IN AR-SYSTEM • Once you are done with installation of AR before you proceed with CMDB installation you need to add AR-LICENSE in your AR-SYSTEM . • If you miss to add AR-LICENSE then CMDB setup will give you error that AR-SYSTEM not valid and setup will exit . • To generate valid license click on below link and press generate button:http://autodb.eng.remedy.com/testreport/ProductSuite.aspx • Login to ARUSER (with Demo) . • Click on OPEN (second option in toolbar) . • Click on “ADD or Remove Licenses Form” • Select “AR-SERVER” as type and enter your generated key and expiry date • You can also add license for number of users etc .

SETUP GUIDE FOR CMDB-7.6.04.SP2 • Please refer to below link if you want to install any AR based product :http://iamslite.eng.remedy.com/smbufs1/build_cmdb/release/cmdb/ • If you don’t get the nightly GA build on above links then you have to take the build from BMC- EPD . • Steps of installing CMDB are almost same to that of AR . • You need to run “setup.cmd” (on windows) located in your installer disk-1. • Lets see all installation screen shots .

  9. SETUP GUIDE FOR CMDB-7.6.04.SP2 – Cnd-1 • New CMDB setup for M-Team is at : http://vm-w23-rds110:8080/arsys • Login Credentials for vm-w23-rds110 : Administrator / bmcAdm1n • Refer ADDM doc to create dataset on CMDB before you start synching data.
