  3. Purpose • Board survey feedback • Deepen understanding of current plan and CCVO’s progress • Foundation for strategic plan renewal process • Feedback/ideas for next plan

  4. Strategic Plan 2013-15 • Strategic Intent • To be a recognized expert, trusted voice, credible source of information and a bold advocate for the nonprofit sector. • Goals: • Strengthen our voice and increase our impact on critical issues affecting the nonprofit sector. • Support and strengthen collaboration locally, provincially and nationally. • Support the capacity and effectiveness of organizations (to do what they do best). • Ensure CCVO’s continued sustainability.

Goal #1:Strengthen Voice & Increase impact • Leadership on critical issues: • Flood response; Police Information checks; HR issues - credible voice • Shaping the agenda through leadership on working groups, e.g. ANVSI, LMI • Informal advisor; valued knowledgeable perspective (FCSS review; Social Innovation Endowment priorities)

Goal #1:Strengthen Voice & Increase impact • Researchto build awareness and understanding: • Alberta Nonprofit Survey – 7 + 2 custom • Annual Provincial Budget analysis • Leadership study • Profile of the sector in Calgary • Flood surveys • Police Info check In Brief • Credible, relevant, used by organizations, funders and government

Goal #1:Strengthen Voice & Increase impact • Timely information dissemination through: • Ebulletin and Twitter – broad reach; key sector audience (CEO’s, decision-makers) • Networks – local, provincial, national; broad or issue specific • Information hub • New – advocacy webinar with Volunteer Alberta

Goal #2:Support and strengthen collaboration • Strategic partnerships / collaboration – • Volunteer Alberta, ECVO, Ontario Nonprofit Network, Community Foundations of Canada (HR Council), U of C, Innoweave, City of Calgary, Red Cross and United Way • Opportunities to strengthen networks & collaboration: • Alberta Nonprofit Summit (2013) • National Gathering of Counterparts (2014) • Communities of Practice – HR, SFO

  9. Goal #2: Support and strengthen collaboration • 3rdAnnual Connections Conference – sector, business and government • New - discussing support for a sub-sectoralcollaborative (Older Adult Service Providers)

Goal #3:Support capacity and effectiveness • Workshops, communities of practice, presentations • Resources – diversity guide,advocacy guide, ebulletin, Grant Connect access, annual provincial budget analysis • Research – Leadership; flood impact; emergency preparedness; workforce diversity • New - Building non-profit emergency readiness • capacity

Goal #4: CCVO Sustainability • Expansion of revenue sources – corporate support; increased foundation funding; earned revenue – conference, Reach Hire • Multi-year funding agreements including– United Way, Anon Donor, AB Culture, Muttart Foundation, Calgary Foundation,Suncor Foundation • Sustainability program review underway • Membership recruitment

Process for renewing Strategic Plan • Staff led process • Board role – input and direction through discussions at key points (full Board, not committee); approval of final plan • Generative discussion led by Mark Cabaj • February – dialogue with key stakeholders (retreat) • Target completion – September 2015
