After an integrated 4-day effort, the initial results of the Higgs experiment are discussed, including challenges faced and steps taken. The process involved data analysis, simulation, and consultation with experts to troubleshoot issues and plan next actions.

Higgs • No results yet. • I spend an integrated 4 days on this, and here is what I found out: • Donatella Cavalli pointed me to: • http://atlfarm003.mi.infn.it/~negri/dataset.htm Done To be done Ev per file Ev done • rome.004307.digit.H7_115_tautaul 100 0 50 5000 rome.004307.recov10.H7_115_tautaul 97 3 49 4753 rome.004307.simul.H7_115_tautaul 100 0 50 5000 • rome.004315.digit.H15_130_tautaul 97 0 50 4850 rome.004315.recov10.H15_130_tautaul 0 39 49 0 rome.004315.simul.H15_130_tautaul 98 2 50 4900
Talked to Amir Farbin about this: • We can wait • We can run reconstruction on the U. Chicago machines – decided to do that. More help from Amir: • Samples not in the obvious place on CERN castor. • Only in Europe, and he could not get DQ to work • Alternative – use gridftp, but: • I got an invalid permission error for that certificate. • Maybe I can get help with this today.
The other thing I tried was to follow Iacopo’s tutorial and generate Pythia Higgs plus fast simulation. • Started by checking out RecExCommon • Up to page 15 all worked fine, compilation and all. • However, I could not get athena to run: • DllClassManager ERROR Could not load module AtRndmGenSvc • DllClassManager ERROR System Error: libAtRndmGenSvc.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Hopefully, with some help, we’ll move the chains in the next several days. • Will pursue both directions (atlfast and reconstruction), if possible. • No results, but we’re learning… • Thanks to Amir and Erik for the help.
