  2. My scientist is named Neil Armstrong. He was the first man to walk on the moon. I chose him because I was always interested about space I knew Neil Armstrong was extremely famous for traveling to space and I thought it would convenient for me to learn more about him.

  3. Dear Diary, Today at Gates Elementary School in Wapakoneta, Ohio, I got to skip the whole second grade! My teacher said since I’m so smart and can read as well as a fifth grader I can move up to third grade! I guess its because I read 90 books last year. I’m so excited!

On August 5th, 1930 Neil Armstrong was born In 1955, Neil earned a bachelor’s degree in aeronautical engineering from Purdue University He married Janet Elizabeth Shearon, on January 28, 1956 On January 28, 1962, Neil Armstrongs daughter Karen, died from a brain tumor became America's first nonmilitary astronaut in September 1962. In 1962, on the 20th of April, he got in an accident, during his X-15 flight. He hardly managed to land safely. In 1966, he was aboard Gemini 8, which marked his first space flight In 1969, he became a part of NASA. In the month of January, he was chosen to be a member of the Apollo 11 mission. They were going to make history on successfully landing on moon. 20th July 1969, Neil was the first person to walk on the walk on the moon. On 24th of July, they returned to earth. He resigned from NASA in 1971 and started working at the University of Cincinnati in Ohio. in 1978, he was given the Congressional Space Medal of Honor. In 1980 Armstrong became the chairman of Cardwell International, a supplier of oil-drilling equipment. Armstrong married Carol Knight on June 12, 1994. This was his second marriage Armstrong’s authorized biography titled ‘First Man: The Life of Neil A. Armstrong’ was brought out in the year 2005.

  6. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION • Neil Armstrong received a Gold Star, Korean Service Medal, Engagement Star, Presidential Medal of Freedom, the Congressional Space Medal of Honor, the Robert H. Goddard Memorial Trophy, the Silvanus Thayer Award, and the Collier Trophy from the National Aeronautics Association. He also won an air medal with 2 gold stars, the syngmanrhee medal and a united nations service medal.

  7. There is a museum named after Neil Armstrong. It’s called the Armstrong Air & Space Museum located in Wapakoneta, Ohio.
