  1. Finding a Way to Help You Succeed With The CHS Media Center

Checking Out and Signing In… You can schedule time for each of the following spaces at the desk in the Media Center. • Media Center – print & online • Mac Cart (28 computers) • iPad Carts (25 / 30 devices) • You can schedule time for Labs 403 and 405 at https://www.signupgenius.com/ You can reserved a total of 3 hours & 45 minutes a week…in any form…to include labs, Mac Cart, and iPads.

Sign-Up Genius • Go to http://www.signupgenius.com/ to sign in and / or create an account. • In the top right corner, you’ll see the tab to drop-down and sign into your account. • Click on the schedule that you wish to sign-up on. All schedules are listed at the bottom of the screen. • Click in the box next to the day & time that you want to reserve the lab. • Click “Submit and Sign-Up” at the bottom of the screen. • You’ll see a verification screen showing what you’ve checked to reserve. If it is correct, click “Sign up now!” • Click “Return to Sign Up” to go back to the lab schedule. • OR • Click on “My Account” on the top right of the menu bar to go back to your home screen.

  4. Mac Cart Procedures • Students must have Laptop Usage Agreements on file before they can use a computer. • If the laptop isn’t working please place it on the top of the cart with a note attached when the cart is returned. • All computers should be plugged fully into the cart when it’s returned to the Media Center. • Remember… • Who ever returns the COW is responsible for it. • Substitutes are not allowed to checkout mobile devices.

  5. iPad Procedures • Students must have iPad Usage Agreements on file before they can use an iPad. • If the iPad isn’t working please let us know right away. • Do NOT plug in iPads. Their charge should last all day. • Students are not to move carts. We will coordinate getting the iPads where you need them.

  6. Apps on the iPads Apps are divided into different folders, based on the way the app can be used and the content that it’s intended for. If you wish to have an app added to the iPads, please see either Mrs. Ballentine, Mrs. Smith, or your department head for the correct form.

  9. Changes to ETV • “StreamlineSChas a new, award-winning content provider: Learn360. As always, ETV StreamlineSC will continue offering free K-12 resources to all public, private and home schools throughout South Carolina.” • When you sign on, you will have to use the new password: “scetv.” After that, you will be prompted to create your own password. • Discovery Education’s content license agreement with StreamlineSCexpires August 17, 2014. Then all Discovery content you have downloaded must be deleted.

  10. Our Literacy Focus • Students will not be allowed to check out materials during SSR; they will be sent back to the classroom empty-handed. Silent Sustained Reading SSR will continue to be at the end of 2nd block every day but CHAMP days. As a quick reminder: • SSR includes everyone • The computers & circulation desk close at 11:10 AM. • Star Readers • A book = 100 pages • Breakfast & Books with The Spine Crackers
