  1. Trigonometric Equations with Projectile Motion Created by Ms. Herrmann Spring 2007

  2. Objective • To introduce you to trigonometric equations dealing with motion • To solve motion equations by both factoring and graphing

  3. Instructions • Visit the site: http://jersey.uoregon.edu/vlab/Cannon/index.html • Complete the “Exercises to Try” • Complete the “Here is your assignment” • Solve using factoring and graphing • Put all work and answers on a separate sheet of paper • Answer the Questions as you go along • Put these on a separate sheet of paper—Show your work! • After you finish the Questions and Activities, answer the Evaluation Questions on the same sheet of paper.

  4. Cannonball Activity Using the equation for height, figure out how long it takes for your cannonball to hit the target from the “Here is your assignment” Use both factoring and graphing to find the solution for time Questions to go along with the Activities

  5. Height Equation for Projectile Motion

  6. Quadratic Equation

  7. Evaluation Questions • What did you like about the activity? • What did you not like in the activity? • What areas do you think we need to review more? • Would you recommend this activity for next years class?
