  1. Yom Kippur The Day of Atonement

  2. Leviticus 23:26-32 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, “On exactly the tenth day of this seventh month is the day of atonement; it shall be a holy convocation for you, and you shall humble your souls and present an offering

  3. Leviticus 23:26-32 by fire to the Lord. Neither shall you do any work on this same day, for it is a day of atonement, to make atonement on your behalf before the Lord your God. If there is any person who will

  4. Leviticus 23:26-32 not humble himself on this same day, he shall be cut off from his people. As for any person who does any work on this same day, that person I will destroy from among his people. You shall do no work

  5. Leviticus 23:26-32 at all. It is to be a perpetual statute throughout your generations in all your dwelling places. It is to be a Sabbath of complete rest to you, and you shall humble your souls; on the ninth of the

  6. Leviticus 23:26-32 month at evening, from evening until evening you shall keep your Sabbath.”

  7. Let’s take a closer look at the word atonement.

  8. H3725כּפּרkippûrkip-poor'From H3722; expiation (only in plural): - atonement.

  9. Webster defines atonement as the reconciliation of God and humankind through the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ; a reparation for an offense or injury; the exemplification of human oneness with God.

  10. In it’s simplest form it means at-one-ment.

  11. God longs for us to become one with Him, but I guess the real question is… when will we want to truly become one with Him?

  12. Another definition for the word atonement has everything to do with covering.

  13. Who or what will be your covering?

  14. Will you choose to try and cover yourself?

  15. Will you listen to the consumer report reviews and attempt to cover yourself with some type of humanistic or secular covering?

  16. Or will you humble yourself and fully embrace the amazing covering of the One, True, and Living Yehovah?

  17. Let’s take a look at this incredible invitation from the book of John.

  18. John 15:1-14 I AM the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit, He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit, He prunes it, that it may bear more fruit.

  19. John 15:1-14 You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you, unless you abide in Me.

  20. John 15:1-14 I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me, and I in him, he bears much fruit; for apart from Me you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in Me, he is thrown away as a branch, and dries up; and

  21. John 15:1-14 they gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it shall be done for you. By this is My Father glorified,

  22. John 15:1-14 that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be My disciples. Just as the Father has loved Me, I have also loved you; abide in My love. If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love; just as I have kept My Father’s

  23. John 15:1-14 commandments, and abide in His love. These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may be in you, and that your joy may be made full. This is My commandment, that you love one another, just as I have loved

  24. John 15:1-14 you. Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends. You are My friends if you do what I command you.

  25. He even empowers us to obey!

  26. John 16:7-15 But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper shall not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you. And He, when He comes, will convict the world

  27. John 16:7-15 concerning sin, and righteousness, and judgment; concerning sin, because they do not believe in Me; and concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father, and you no longer behold Me;

  28. John 16:7-15 and concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world has been judged. I have many more things to say to you, but you cannot hear them now. But, when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all

  29. John 16:7-15 the Truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come. He shall glorify Me; for He shall take of Mine, and shall disclose it to you.

  30. John 16:7-15 All things that the Father has are Mine; therefore I said, that He takes of Mine, and will disclose it to you.

  31. And of course, His powerful prayer for oneness!

  32. John 17:13-26 But now I come to Thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they may have My joy made full in themselves. I have given them Thy word; and the world has hated them, because they are not of

  33. John 17:13-26 the world, even as I am not of the world. I do not ask Thee to take them out of the world, but to keep them from the evil one. They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. Sanctify them in the truth; Thy word is truth.

  34. John 17:13-26 As Thou didst send Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world. And for their sakes I sanctify Myself, that they themselves also may be sanctified in truth. I do not ask on behalf of these alone,

  35. John 17:13-26 but for those also who believe in Me through their word; that they may all be one; even as Thou also may be in Us; that the world may believe that Thou didst send Me. And the glory which Thou hast given Me I have given to them; that they may be one,

  36. John 17:13-26 just as We are one; I in them, and Thou in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, that the world may know that Thou didst send Me, and didst love them, even as Thou didst love Me. Father, I desire that

  37. John 17:13-26 they also, whom Thou hast given Me, be with Me where I am, in order that they may behold My glory, which Thou hast given Me; for Thou didst love Me before the foundation of the world.

  38. John 17:13-26 O righteous Father, although the world has not known Thee, yet I have known Thee; and these have known that Thou didst send Me; and I have made Thy name known to them, and will make it

  39. John 17:13-26 known; that the love wherewith Thou didst love Me may be in them; and I in them.

  40. What a sweet invitation, provision, and prayer.

  41. Now let’s go back to Leviticus 23!

  42. Leviticus 23:26-32 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, “On exactly the tenth day of this seventh month is the day of atonement; it shall be a holy convocation for you, and you shall humble your souls and present an offering

  43. “It shall be a holy convocation for you!”

  47. What is a holy convocation?

  48. It’s a very special, sacred, hallowed, and appointed time for the called out children of Yehovah to gather together in His name and declare and demonstrate that He alone is our Elohim!

  49. Leviticus 23:26-32 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, “On exactly the tenth day of this seventh month is the day of atonement; it shall be a holy convocation for you, and you shall humble your souls and present an offering
