Examples of training offers and LLL activities • State information and extension service offering lectures, courses, demonstrations, excursions, advisory work, e.g.: • Fiona instruction: to use an online tool for the common application (CAP) • Plant protection, fertilisation/ nutrient balance, tax laws, marketing.. • ‘Sachkundenachweis Pflanzenschutz’ (training to acquire proof of expertise in sound/ proper phytosanitary measures) • courses for part-time farmers (also as preparation for the exam) • grower associations, farmer unions and other self-organised groups, e.g. on quality management and marketing • project funded trainings, e.g. “Innovative Maßnahmen für Frauen” • private firms and service providers • “Shaping tomorrow’s world today – sustainability strategy in Baden-Württemberg” "Lifelong learning for sustainable agriculture in Alps-Danube-Adriatic Region-LifeADA" Project Kick-off Meeting, University of Zagreb, 26-28 February 2014

The role of Higher education institutions state law: • universities serve the advancement and development of the sciences and arts, by means of research, teaching, study programmes and continuing education programmes • universities of applied science enable through practise-oriented teaching the self-reliant application of scientific knowledge and methods in professional life; they also carry out applied research and development indirect links to farmers’ education/ training through: • HEI eduction of future teachers, consultants, experts, officials • Special projects and cooperations • training of trainers and research on education, innovation in agriculture "Lifelong learning for sustainable agriculture in Alps-Danube-Adriatic Region-LifeADA" Project Kick-off Meeting, University of Zagreb, 26-28 February 2014
