  3. WPS Scholarship FoundationCOMMUNITY FUTURE • Approx. 12% community have bachelor’s degree or higher • Median income approx. $42,000 • Strong work ethic & pride • Little/no discretionary $ • Little/no savings for college

  4. Cost of Collegefreshman 2005 • Tuition UM Ann Arbor $9,213/year • Dormitory $8,200 • Tuition UM Dearborn $6,716 • Tuition EMU $6,540 • Tuition Wayne $6,398 • Books per semester $300-500/sem. • Computer, supplies +++ • Transportation if commuting +++

WPS Scholarship FoundationINFORMATION • Began in 1989 • 501 (c ) (3) • Assets of over $500,000 • Community members = Bd. of Dir. • Separate, independent from Bd. of Ed. • Over 400 scholarships given to date • 99.9% of funds go directly to scholarships • Investment policy maintains portfolio diversity to maximize annual income & keep principal secure
