  2. Agenda • Review CST scores from 2012-2013 in ELA and Math • Performance assessment this year • Intervention this year • Transition to Common Core • Site Professional Development plan • Next steps and how you can help

  3. Testing this year • State board has approved to suspend all testing this year. • No student scores or API scores for all California schools • 3rd-8th & 11th grade will pilot the new smarter balance assessments in either ELA or Math • Been given a grace year 

  4. Transitioning to new Standards • Common Core Shifts this year • Smarter Balance Assessments- computer based • Resources for parents • Parents backpack for transition to Common Core • Shifts to be aware of for parents and students

Intervention • 1.5 intervention teachers • All students have been assessed for reading, math and ELD • Every grade level looks differently • Each grade level we are serving a min. of 15 students in small group instruction 4 days a week 20 minutes a day • Speak with teacher if you have specific questions regarding your student.

Soquel Elementary Teacher professional Development plan • 2013-14 • Focus on Writers Workshop • 3 day WHOLE Staff training – December 4-6th • We will need a lot of parent support to make this a successful training and learning experience for both kids and teachers • http://readingandwritingproject.com/ • Focus on Technology improvements • Many teachers receiving Readers Workshop training December 2nd and 3rd • Working on Classroom libraries
