  5. Informal networks in health and social care • Social networks can channel informal help • Affected by structure and membership • How integrated with family or local community • Are there any connections with key agencies? • How good are connections?

  7. Forms of connectedness • Influence from central place between many relationships • Networks may help spread – and access - new practices • Access to many organisations even more valuable? • Internet connections

  8. Using connections • Gain new knowledge through new channels • Gain influence by linking different groups • Gain benefits from linking up?: • Similar groups? • Dissimilar groups?

  9. Using network knowledge to build CAN? Build CAN Community – use connections to share resources (information, skills, funds) with members. Build Reputation – use connections to communicate key CAN values to members and the wider world. Build Resources – Use connections to gain resources and strengthen organisation.
