CATHOLIC YOUTH LEADERSHIP AWARD • CYLA is an award for dynamic Catholic seniors attending high school in any parochial, private or public school or home schooled. • The program is NOT a KC family member only scholarship program – it is open to all eligible Catholic HS Seniors. Seek out the BEST!! • THE STATE AWARDS ARE VERY IMPRESSIVE… • $4,000 awarded to a Senior Boy & Senior Girl State Winner! • $3,000 awarded to both 2nd place winners • $2,000 awarded to both 3RD place winners • $500 awarded to the Diocesan winners

CATHOLIC YOUTH LEADERSHIP AWARD • What’s NEW this year … • Area Winners will be selected from each of the 7 Dioceses • Month end due dates for applicants – January 31 each year • Youth Activities Report – send to State Youth Director Darryl Barrios • The State Finals will be held the week after Easter - 12 April 2015

  5. CATHOLIC YOUTH LEADERSHIP AWARD COUNCIL STEPS TO A SUCCESSFUL PROGRAM ... Grand Knight receives the CYLA info Local Council will appoint a Council CYLA Chairman (prefer that your council submit the Council Chairman Form via the state website) 3) Council CYLA Chair selects judges and promotes the program to area High Schools, Parish Pastor and Youth Ministers 4) Encourage the on-line application process (state website - CYLA) 5) Review the Scoring Guide with judges for Council Competition 6) Mail the Council Boy & Girl winner to your Diocesan Administrator 7) Mail the CYLA Reporting Form to the State Youth Director

IMPORTANT DATES FOR THE 2014-2015 CYLA PROGRAM Nov. 01 – Council receives information from CYLA Chairman Dec. 01 – Council appoints CYLA Chairman (complete form online) Dec. 01 – Jan. 31 - Council solicitation to area High Schools and church parishes for current year seniors Jan. 31 - Council receipt of applications ends!! (NO APPLICATIONS ACCEPTED AFTER THIS DATE) Feb. 01 – Feb. 10 - Council selects 1 Boy & 1 Girl winner. Send winners to Diocesan Administrator ASAP!! Feb. 11 – Mar. 10 – Diocesan Administrator Competition winner selected and sent to State Chairman on March 11 Apr. 12 – (Sunday) State Finals held and winners selected
