  2. What Made Him Famous • Alexander invented the very first telephone in June 1876.

  3. Birth Information • Birthday: March 3, 1847 • Location of Birth: Edinburgh, Scotland • Interesting Fact About Childhood: He had two brothers named Melvin and Edward.

  4. Interesting Fact # 1 • In 1874 Alexander worked with Thomas Watson make the phone or the electric speech machine. By June 3, 1875, Thomas and Alexander made the telephone a success.

  5. Interesting Fact # 2 • By July 26,1674 Alexander found a way to make his idea into a machine. Alexander called it the electric speech machine or the telephone for short.

  6. Interesting Fact # 3 During each day Alexander would teach deaf children. At night, he could be found working on a machine that would send human sound waves over wires.

  7. Interesting Fact # 4 • After he invented the phone, Alexander kept working on other inventions. Some of his inventions were solar panels and metal detectors.

  8. Interesting Fact # 5 In June 1876, Alexander showed his phone at the Centennial Exhibition in Philadelphia. This new phone was able to span distances from Boston to New York City. Previously, it could only reach 5 miles.

  9. Interesting Fact # 6 When Alexander was 75 years old, he made a hydrofoil boat. It was the fastest boat at the time.
