This training session is designed for all Presiding Officers in Wychavon to ensure they fulfill their roles effectively and in compliance with updated legislation. We will cover essential topics, including ballot box collection, polling station procedures, absentee voting, and disability access issues. District and Parish Elections3rd May 2007 Ballot Box Collection- • Tuesday 1st May • 11am - 2pm or 4pm - 6pm. • It takes up to 1/2 hour to check contents!

District and Parish Elections3rd May 2007 Check Voter - • On Register? Be careful - changes to legislation could have poll card but not be on Register! • Mark Register - D/P • Local Government Electors only • Clerical errors

District and Parish Elections3rd May 2007 Corresponding Number List - • No more counterfoils. • List of ballot paper numbers for station • MUST mark elector number against paper(s) issued
District and Parish Elections3rd May 2007 Voter votes - • In Secrecy! • Spoilt ballot papers • Assistance to voters - must complete forms • Ballot paper(s) MUST go into ballot box • Voter should show you official mark
District and Parish Elections3rd May 2007 Absent Voting - • Postal Votes • Can be handed in at station provided in same parish/ward • MUST be logged on form provided • MUST be logged out if handed to PSVO • Possible problems • Didn’t apply for postal vote • Never received postal vote • Tendered paper!!!

District and Parish Elections3rd May 2007 Fees- • £175 - for all duties in connection with position • £40 training fee • Mileage for collection of ballot box, travel to polling station and to ballot box drop off point • £5 - telephone allowance • Actual costs - electricity
