  3. Aim(s): • To ascertain the experience of patients in regard to their contact with medical students in the general practice setting • To ascertain the impact on the GP • To ascertain the impact on the other general practice team members

  4. Methods • Semi-structured interviews with 21 general practice personnel (Dr, RN, R, Mng) in Auckland SC • Recruit for diversity (gender, age group, ethnicity, NZMG, VR, seniority YiGP, YiNZGP) • Qualitative thematic analysis using general inductive approach

  6. Findings Five key themes emerged: • Time • Teaching/Learning • Space • Team work • Quality

  8. Time Dr”.. When I’m seeing a patient they’ll be seeing someone also, so it quickens the queue” RN” .. They can see patients and save our time..” Mng “ … help our GPs reduce their waiting time..” Dr “ .. Patients inconvenienced to much time..”

  14. What we already know Education programmes including the medical undergraduate programme consistently strive to improve both content and delivery from a students perspective. the emphasis is more broadly shared on the experience of both the student and the educator. To date the impact on the educator/teacher and business environment is less explored. What this study adds The New Zealand general practice team experiences with hosting undergraduate medical students are overwhelmingly positive and supportive. They perceive this as adding value to their practices. What Gap This Fills
