  9. 1. Reflect sunlight from mirror onto nearby surface, raft, hand, etc. 2. Slowly bring mirror close to eye and look through sighting hole at reflected light. Bright light spot will show in targeting star. This is the aim indicator. 2 1

  10. Or ? 4 3 3. Hold mirror close to eye. Slowly turn and manipulate mirror so that the aim indicator is on the target you wish to flash. 4. Even no aircraft or vessels are in sight, continue sweeping the horizon. Mirror flashes can be seen for many miles, even in hazy weather.

Pull back container flap to expose first cartridge 3. screw projector, hard home, onto base of cartridge and withdraw from container 4. Hold projector at arms lenght above head, pull back trigger and release sharply. 5. To re-use unscrew spent cartridge and repeat 1- 4.

  14. To ignite either signal: • Point signal to be fired away from your face. Unfold firing ring to full extend. Twist and pull. • Hold signal up at arms length 45° from body and downwind. 45° 1 & 2
