  7. Implementation plan: PDR (Preliminary Design Report) in 2014;TDR (Technical Design Report) by 2015Installation : 2018 and mainly 2022-23 • All nowWPs are active: from diagnostics to Machine Protection; • Integrationstartedwithvigour as well as QA (workshop soon) • Cryo, SC links P7, Cryo-Collimatorswith 11 T , MoGrColl.s., etc. in LS2 (2018) • Proof of main hardware by 2016 • Final Prototypes tested by 2017 (IT, D1, D2, LRBBwire). May be CC in 2018, tbd • Start construction 2017/18 for IT, CC, othermain hardware • IT String test (integration) in 2019-20; Main Installation 2022-23 • Though but – based on LHC experience – feasible; 6 montzhsshoft of LS2 and 1 y shioft pf LS3 wouldeasethertask. But plan are for 2022, possible shift will go in contingency • Cost: 810 MCHF (Material, CERN accounting) L. Rossi @Kick-off Meeting 11 Nov 2013

  8. Technical Coordinator of HL-LHC (TC) Isabel Bejar The TC has the primary function to organise and maintain the technical baseline of the project. The TC shall be responsible to define and generate, with the relevant CERN teams and services, a complete set of technical and managerial documentation for the project, which will follow the document tree established for the LHC project. This comprises the definition of the project breakdown structure (PBS), which contains all kinds of technical documentation generated by the technical work packages as functional specifications (FS), engineering specifications (ES), the layout, quality assurance manual (also for in-kind contribution) and documents for tracking changes (Engineering Change Request, ECR). The TC shall be responsible and follow up the Project master schedule making the link between Project management and the CERN team in charge of planning. The TC is responsible (in a close collaboration with the WP leaders and in particular with WP15-Integration and (de-)Installation) to identify the necessary functional specification, to promote their publication and to get them approved.

  9. Integration of the HL-LHC project Paolo Fessia • Insure the coherence among the various technical equipment with the technical baseline of LHC (or propose its modification) and the present tunnel conditions, ensuring that the relevant technical parameters are defined and approved by the appropriate bodies. Check the coherence among the issued functional and engineering specifications working in strict relationship with the configuration management. • Coordinating the study of the integration of the various technical equipment that are planned to be installed inside the LHC tunnel for the upgrade (in practice all the new hardware installed after LS1). The WP coordinator will be the link person of the project to the CERN unit in charge of the integration lay-out. • Coordinating the study for installation of various equipment and infrastructures (managed by the TC), together with the integration unit responsible of this activity, and the people which are responsible of the proximity equipment integration. • Coordinating the study for the de-installation of present LHC equipment that needs to be removed. Propose common solutions, suitable to the highly radioactive environment. Identify and evaluate any possible need of tunnel modifications to allow the necessary technical equipment installation and in case of needs provide conceptual solutions to be developed by the TC and implemented by the TC.

  10. Mandate of WP8 Collider-Experiment Interface • The WP contains all activities related to the interface between the accelerator and the experimental detectors, both in the Interaction Region and in the Matching Sections and Dispersion Suppressors. • In particular the WP coordinators have the responsibility of being the link between the HL-LHC project and the Experiment Technical Coordinators for: • Experiments beam pipes constrains and optimization. This job is in close connection with WP-12 Vacuum. • Aperture evaluation of various elements in view of the safety of the machine equipment (with the WP7 - Machine Protection) and of the detectors. • Background calculation and optimization of the shielding and various machine parameters (with WP2) • Responsible of the re-design and integration (this last in collaboration with WP15) of the new TAS, TAN and various absorbers. Modification of the shielding to cope with the HL-LHC new parameters. • Monitoring and assessing the new request of forward detectors like (but not only) the so-called Hamburg beam pipes. • The leadership of the WP is shared by a person of ABP, for the necessary beam physics competence, and a person of EN- ME, which will be responsible of the hardware and its maintenance. The WP coordinators are members of the HL-LHC coordination Group (the high level body between the HL-LHC project, the LHC Detectors Upgrade Project and CERN management) and of the HL-LHC Extended Steering Committee.
