The Omni RT Walker-II (ORTW-II) is a passive omnidirectional walking aid that employs magneto-rheological (MR) brakes for enhanced control. This system introduces a novel concept of a "potential canal" to facilitate indoor navigation. The research highlights real-time modifications of the potential canal to effectively manage transient obstacles, ensuring users receive continuous support while walking. This work, led by Naemeh Nejatbakhsh and Kazuhiro Kosuge from Tohoku University, pushes the boundaries of mobility assistance technology.
