  1. NCEES Online ToolTeacher Tutorial FiveClassroom Observations

  2. Overview Administrators will conduct classroom observations of teachers according to the WCPSS Evaluation Calendar for School-based Staff Members. The first formal observation will be conducted by an administrator. A pre-conference of the first observation is required for full-time, non-tenured teachers and tenured teachers in a summative year.

  3. Document Pre-Conference(s) During the pre-conference the administrator and you will discuss your instructional plan. Following the pre-conference, you will document that the pre-conference was held by authenticating the Record of Teacher Evaluation Activities (RTEA). To access your RTEA, click on Observations.

  4. Access RTEA Click on the Observer Task tab. Then click on the RTEA.

  5. Authenticate Pre-Conference(s) The administrator must authenticate first by checking under Evaluator Signature. Once the administrator authenticates, the Teacher Signature box is live. Click on the Teacher Signature box. A pop-up will require you to enter your personal password to authenticate.

  6. Review Observation Report Within ten days of the observation your administrator will notify you that your report is ready for review. To access your Observation report, click on Observations.

  7. Access Observation Report Click on the Observer Task tab. Click on the Observation.

  8. Review Observation Report You can review the ratings and comments the administrator recorded during the observation. You will not be able to make changes. It is recommended that you do NOT make a printed copy at this time since your administrator can make changes during your post conference based on your discussion.

  9. Review Observation Report After reviewing your ratings, assemble examples of artifacts to bring to your post conference. There are additional fields where your administrator can add additional examples if they are not in the list. Be sure you bring your personal password to the post conference as you will need it to authenticate the report.

  10. Post Conference The post conference must be held within ten days of the observation. You and your administrator will meet to discuss the ratings s/he recorded during the observation. Ratings can be edited/changed by the administrator based on your discussion.

  11. Post Conference - Authenticate Following your discussion, your administrator and you will authenticate your report. Once the form has been authenticated NO CHANGES can be made. The administrator must authenticate first. When you check the Teacher Signature box, a pop-up will ask you to enter your personal password. The current date will automatically appear on your RTEA.

  12. Adding Comments • Teacher comments cannot be added to an Observation report until after the administrator and you have authenticated. To add comments, you must access it by logging in independently. Scroll to the end of the form. Type your comments in the white data field. Note: • Only one line of you text is visible at a time. • Do not use italics, underscores, colors, or bullets. • Your text cannot be Spellchecked. Type your comments here

  13. Adding Comments Click on Add Comments. A “pop up” will inform you that your comments cannot be removed. By indicating OK, your comments will appear in the Teacher’s Comments section. An email containing your comments will be sent to the person (administrator or peer) who wrote the Observation report. After clicking on Add Comments, your comments will appear here.

  14. Acknowledging Comments The administrator or peer who wrote the report will acknowledge receipt of the email by accessing the report and clicking on the Comments Attached and Principal/Evaluator Signature boxes.

  15.
