  1. Welcome to the Siemens Scholarship Program Students meet program participation requirements based on the year the student will leave high school and enter college. The 2012 Siemens Scholarship Program is currently open to entrants who will finish high school and enter college in 2012. Most of these students are currently beginning their junior year of high school. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Entering your child into the scholarship competition: Student must enter the National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) in the third year of high school (normally the junior year). The employee must submit a Siemens Scholarship Program Entry Form in the student’s third year of high school (normally the junior year).

  2. Who is eligible?Only high school students who are sons and daughters of employees of Siemens participating divisions can compete for these scholarships. Such students also must meet all requirements for participation in the National Merit Scholarship Program that are published in the Official Student Guide to the PSAT/NMSQT which is updated annually and distributed to students through their high schools.

  4. How does a student enter the 2012 Siemens Scholarship Program?A 2012 Siemens Scholarship Program Entry Form must be completed and submitted by April 1, 2011. The Entry Form for the 2012 competition is provided in Entry Step 3 of the Siemens Scholarship Program Online Entry Form.(Accessing the Scholarship Program Entry Form)The student must also take the PSAT/NMSQT in the fall of 2010, on the date their school chooses for the administration -- either Wednesday, October 13 or Saturday, October 16, 2010.

  5. Important information regarding the PSAT/NMSQT:The 2010 PSAT/NMSQT is the qualifying test to enter the 2012 competition. Scores from prior PSAT/NMSQT administrations (2009 or earlier) cannot be used for participation in the 2012 program. The 2010 PSAT/NMSQT was administered on Wednesday, October 13 or Saturday, October 16. The 2012 Siemens Scholarship Program Entry Form can be submitted prior to the student taking the October 2010 PSAT/NMSQT and/or receiving his/her official score report. As a sponsor of the examination, NMSC receives all 2010 PSAT/NMSQT scores and information students provide on their answer sheets. Therefore, students do not need to report their PSAT/NMSQT scores to NMSC.   6. What if my student misses the exam?A student who does not take the 2010 PSAT/NMSQT because of illness, an emergency, or other extenuating circumstances (but meets all other participation requirements) may still be able to enter the 2012 competition.

  7. Topics of Interest • Selection of Winners – Refer to Step One of the online scholarship program Entry Form. • Amount of the Award – Four-year renewable scholarship of $1,500 per year. • Continuation of existing scholarship payments through college.

  8. 2012 Siemens Corporation Scholarship Program Timeline • Fall and Winter of 2010 – Students take PSAT/NMSQT in October 2010 and parents submit 2012 Siemens Scholarship Program Entry Form (Entry Form Deadline – April 1, 2011). • Fall of 2011 – Top candidates are identified and are mailed detailed applications via their high school principal. Nationally qualified candidates receive applications in September; additional candidates receive applications in December.

  9. 2012 Siemens Scholarship Program Timeline - Continued • Winter 2011/2012 – Candidates return applications to NMSC via their high school principal. • Spring 2012 – Scholarship winners are selected and scholarship offers are mailed (normally in early March). • Spring 2012 – Scholarship winners receive scholarship certificates.

  10. 2012 Siemens Scholarship Program Timeline - Continued • Summer 2012 – Scholarship winners are provided detailed information regarding distribution of scholarship stipend payments. • Fall 2012 – Fall stipend payments are mailed to colleges and universities.
