  1. Ways to Help Your Family Maintain Good Oral Health During the Pandemic

  2. Family Maintain Good Oral Health During the Pandemic • You probably are still in stay-at-home orders or are avoiding public places, as much as possible.  • It's good to help prevent the spread of the virus by remaining at home, but being cooped up can also present challenges for your family's oral health. Now more than ever, preventative dental care is crucial.  • A healthy mouth is part of a healthy body, and you'll want to reduce your risks of developing dental problems.

  3. Here are some Important Tips to Help Your Family Maintain Good oral Health During the Pandemic:

  4. Brush Regularly • Brushing is the simplest way to prevent decay and cavities. To make the most of it, spend at least two minutes for every session. • Be sure to cover all teeth areas, particularly the teeth at the back used for heavy chewing. If possible, check your teeth in the mirror to see if there’s still debris left. • Avoid brushing aggressively as well, as it may only cause the enamel to erode.

  5. Prevent Constant Snacking • It's tempting to indulge in snacks throughout the day. But this can be bad for the teeth. Grazing can cause debris and plaque to build up on the teeth. • Plan your meals to avoid junk, processed, or fast food options. • Snack sparingly and include teeth-friendly options, such as yogurt and cheese.

  6. Change Your toothbrush • Switch to a new toothbrush every 3-4 months or as soon as your current is frayed. A worn toothbrush will no longer be able to do its job well. • If you're not comfortable with a manual toothbrush, try electronic options. If you're using a manual toothbrush, pick one with soft bristles. You can also talk to your dentist about products you can try, especially if you're getting dental work done, such as braces. • You can also try an electric toothbrush which is more effective in some ways in removing plaque from your teeth.

  7. Hydrate With Water • Reduce intake of sugary and acidic beverages. Drink plenty of water to help stimulate saliva flow in the mouth, re-mineralize the enamel, flush food debris, and prevent bad breath. • Water doesn't leave stains on the tooth, and it won't contribute to decay. • Also, avoid leaving a bottle filled with formula or any sugary drink in your child's mouth when they go to sleep, as this can increase their risks of developing decay and cavities.
