  1. The ProposalRoom 337 State hall By: Alex Stankovski, Chelsea Miller, Carl Faraon, Colt Moran, Addie Cooper

  2. What are we proposing The changes we would like to see implemented in State hall room 337… • The class room structure • Location • Style of furniture • The color • How we are picking this color based on learning behaviors • The cleanliness of the room. • How this really effects learning habits • The environment plays a huge role in our proposal.

  3. HOW will these changes be implemented? • Getting to university to agree • Communicating with different stakeholders • Working way up the ladder • Gather and organize the materials needed • Money • Labor • Evaluating, reviewing, and reporting on the change. • Showing it really had a purpose and not a waste of time and money. • Positive outcome

  4. WHY are these changes valuable, based on our prior reading and research? • The issue of furniture placement • “Classroom furniture and its movement, or more specifically its lack of movement, are physical manifestations of important issues of authority and resistance in our teaching and in our students’ learning” (Mirtz 14) • Colt Moran’s research in the honors study lounge, he found that students would much rather sit in the comfortable chairs, rather than the hard, uncomfortable plastic chairs. • Jankens’ mentioned “The classroom setup, which often kept students from key interpersonal elements. • People would go out of there way to feel comfortable. This helped the learning process.

  5. What are the projected BENEFITS of these changes for this classroom space? • Better learning opportunities • Students feel cared for • Better environment for learning • Color • Furniture • Cleanliness • Better grades • Better study habits

  6. What are the OBSTACLES that stand in the way of this implementation, and how will you address these obstacles? • First writing a convincing proposal • Getting the Wayne State to pass a budget to work with • Lack of timeand resources • Need more support from higher authorities • Making our proposal more specific • Having the exact changes we want implemented • We will focus on all the little details prefect them, work together establish common grounds get more research done and perfect our proposal.

  7. How Dirty is it?
