  1. 2014 Annual Update of EHAC Accredited Programs Annual NEHA Conference Las Vegas, Nevada Yalonda Sinde, Executive Director

Introduction • Each year AEHAP/EHAC staff administer a survey via survey monkey of the environmental health degree programs accredited by the National Environmental Health Science and Protection Accreditation Council (EHAC). Programs are required by EHAC to complete the survey. This survey covers topics which will allow EHAC to better understand the needs and overall health of EHAC accredited programs. • 32 undergraduate and 8 graduate programs completed the 2013-2014 annual update report.

  3. Accredited Environmental Health Programs 2014 There are currently thirty-one undergraduate programs and 8 graduate programs for a total of 39 EHAC accredited programs in 23 states. There was a loss of 1 program in June, 2014 (Bowling Green University). Accredited Schools

  4. Undergraduate Enrollment & Graduation Rates • Enrollment decreased from 1,430 in 2013 to 1,353 in 2014, a 5% decrease over last year’s reported enrollment. This year’s undergraduate enrollment is 1% below the 10 year enrollment average. • This year’s graduation rate increased by 10% from 395 to 435. (This figure is based on program directors estimating how many students will graduate 5 months before graduation).

  5. Graduate Enrollment & Graduation Rates For the 2013-2014 year, graduate enrollment increased by 13% from the 2012-2013 figure of 231. The graduation rate increased, by 68% from the 2012-2013 academic year. See chart 8 (this figure is based on program directors estimating how many students will graduate 5 months before graduation).

  6. Five Largest Enrollment 2013-2014 • California State University Northridge (UG): 174 • Colorado State University: 109 • University of Georgia: 104 • Illinois State University: 101 • University of Findlay (UG): 89

  7. Student Diversity The student body of Accredited Programs is showing an increase in diversity. Currently 43% of students enrolled in EHAC accredited programs are minorities. This represents an increase of 12% as compared to the previous academic year. Overall diversity has increased by 134% since the academic year 2004-2005.

  9. Conclusion AEHAP continues to increase efforts to create new programs. Currently, there are 20 programs interested in moving forward with application for accreditation in the next five years. The following states do not have an EHAC accredited program: Northwest/West/Mid-West Alaska, Arizona, Oregon, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, South Dakota, Utah South Arkansas, Florida, Louisiana East Connecticut, Maine, Minnesota, New York, Rhode Island, Washington D.C., New Hampshire, Vermont
