  1. The Design of ASnetand the support to Grid Yu-lin CHANG @ Academia Sinica International Symposium on Grid Computing March 29, 2007

  2. Introduction on ASnet • ASnet – Academic Services Network • Provides high-performance and high-availability network connectivity for research and education, as well as generic Internet activities • Focuses on International links and IX (TaipeiGigaPoP). • Closely collaborates with domestic RENs, such as TAnet and TWAREN. • As evolution of technologies, network matrix is now part of Grid infrastructure to bring pieces to be one.

  3. Palo Alto, PAIX Building Chicago, StarLight Current ASnet PoPs

  4. Current Taiwan High-speed Research Links

  5. Current ASnet Links (incl. Grid)

  6. T0-T1-T2 Support for LCG

  7. Coming ASnet Links (incl. Grid)

  8. ASnet mid-term design (int’l)

  9. def path R1 ASnet Partner R2 tag bgp routes with 9264:61200 path changes Highlighted Service for Grid • Partner-controlled routing • Kind of BGP tagging mechanism • 9264:61100 request ASnet *LESS* prefers this route • 9264:61200 request ASnet *MORE* prefers this route • example

  10. Highlighted Service for Grid • Private Circuit • Utilizing MPLS Layer-2 technique • Separated from other customers • Keep privacy • Prevent routing information influences • Protected by the ASnet MPLS platform • Redundancy by internal Layer-3 multi-path • Recovery by Fast-ReRoute (FRR) • Economics on device • Grid sites use pure Ethernet IP devices for connecting to ASnet
