  1. The Cosmic Ray Observatory Project (CROP) Salute to Marilyn McDowell McDowell Retirement Party UNL Department of Physics and Astronomy August 2, 2005

Marilyn has been the Administrative Secretary for • CROP since its inception in 2000 • During this time CROP has hosted (and she has organized) • 5 summer workshops lasting from 1 to 4 weeks • 8 academic year workshops lasting from 1 to 2 days • During this time CROP has employed • 11 undergraduate research assistants • 7 graduate students • who have relied heavily on Marilyn for many things

  3. High school teams attend a 4-week (2-week) summer workshop at UNL with class and lab activities 2000: Lincoln Zoo, Lincoln Northeast, Mt. Michael, Marian, Norfolk

  4. High school teams attend a 4-week (2-week) summer workshop at UNL with class and lab activities 2001: Lincoln Lutheran, Lincoln High, Omaha Westside, Anselmo-Merna, Osceola, Wayne State College

  5. High school teams attend a 4-week (2-week) summer workshop at UNL with class and lab activities 2002: Fairbury, Wayne, Roncalli Catholic, Bancroft-Rosalie, Waterloo

Some impressive (approximate) statistics During her time with CROP, Marilyn: Has processed 360 participant stipend vouchers Has prepared 400 name tags for meetings and workshops Has issued 100 parking stickers for participants Has organized 6 picnics for 40+ people Has matched 200 CROP T-shirts to participants and their sizes

Some impressive (approximate) statistics During her time with CROP, Marilyn: Has made 100 dormitory and meal plan reservations Has made 100 motel reservations for participants and visitors Has Xeroxed over 500 pages of materials for workshops and meetings Has signed 600 weekly timesheets for undergraduate assistants

  17. Some impressive (approximate) statistics During her time with CROP, Marilyn: Has made 500 phone calls related to CROP Has sent/received 1500 E-mails related to CROP And most impressively, Has delivered 4800 donuts to CROP workshops and meetings
