What’s Next? • Have BMHS counselor check Authorization to Attend form (TRI-C) • Schedule appointment with admissions counselor/academic counselor to select courses.
Application Deadlines • Tri-C: April 15, 2014 for fall, December 1, 2014 for spring • BWU: May 1, 2014 for both fall and spring semesters
Things to Consider • How are college semester hours transferred to high school credits? • College hours are multiplied by .2 to equate with high school credit. ex.: 3 semester hrs = .6 high school credit 5 semester hrs = 1.0 high school credit
Things to Consider • Total number of high school credits must be at least 2.5 per semester and 5.5 for the year. • The maximum number of credits a student may earn must not exceed 7.0 for the academic year.
Things to Consider • What about eligibility? • P.S.E.O.P. courses DO count toward eligibility. • Students must be scheduled for and earn 2.5 credits per semester, 5.5 credits for the year.
Things to Consider • What about “honors” grades? • P.S.E.O.P. course grades WILL be considered as “honors” classes only at the 200 level or above. All others will be treated as regular classes: A = 4.0, B = 3.0, etc.
Things to Consider • Will the credit I earn through P.S.E.O.P. transfer to another university? • Most colleges in Ohio will accept credit earned through the P.S.E.O.P. program. Out of state colleges are not required to accept credits as P.S.E.O.P. is an Ohio program.
Things to Consider • Can P.S.E.O.P. students take evening, weekend, or distance learning classes? • YES! This allows more flexibility in scheduling between Berea-Midpark High and the college. • BW does not allow P.S.E.O.P. students to take evening or weekend classes
Things to Consider • What if I complete the course, but I receive an “F”? • The student/family will be billed for tuition and books. • You will have an “F” on your transcript
Things to Consider • What if I do not complete the course because I don’t like it? • You will have one week from the first day of the P.S.E.O.P. class to determine if you wish to drop; after that time, you will be charged for tuition and books, and the withdrawal grade will be an “F”.
