  3. Gala: „Prom night in Aachen“ (24th of March 2007) Conference: „The EU decision making process“ (27th - 30th of March 2007) presents:

  4. Prom night in Aachen • Time to dress up and dance the night away in... • ...one of the nicest ballrooms in Aachen • Live Big-Band music • Fingerfood buffet • And of course all the fun you expect at an event in Aachen! • Lodging in a gymn is included

  5. Prom night in Aachen • Participation fee is 25€ • Apply online at aegee.org • Or send an email to us at hr@aegee-aachen.org • Or just talk to us • All your friends (AEGEE or not) are invited as well!

  6. „The EU Decision Making Process“ • Four day programme with discussions, lectures workshops and a simulation • The lectures and workshops are held by representatives of the chemical lobby, the European commission and council, the lobby control initiative and professors • A public plenal discussion at the end of the conference

  7. „The EU Decision Making Process“ • First day: EU Structure • How do the Commission, the Parliament and the Council work? • How are decisions and directions made in the EU?: An overview of the general decision making process • People talk about their work in the EU-institutions • Second day: Lobbys and Think Tanks • How do lobbying groups influence EU-politics? • Introduction to the Transparency Iniciative • Pros and contras of lobbying

  8. „The EU Decision Making Process“ • Third Day: Simulation • A simulation of how a directive comes into existence • Everybody plays a role of one EU-institution or lobby group • Fouth Day: How democratic is the EU? • Reflections about the decision making process • Patricipants prepare for the plenal discussion

  9. „The EU Decision Making Process“ • Participant Fee: 55€ • We request an essay by all applicants on the topic: „What are the pros and cons of lobbying with regard to the decison making process?“ • Accomodation and meals are included • Have fun!!
