  1. Bacteria is Everywhere…. By Simon Chute

  2. So what is Bacteria?? • Tiny little cells that can cause diseaseand infections • They can only be seen with a Microscope • They have a tail so that they can move around • Some have a sticky jelly surrounding them so that they can stick to things like your hands • They can copy themselves once every 20 minutes • They come in 3 different shapes: Spheres, Rods and Spirals

  3. Where do they grow? • They can live in almost any condition such as hot water springs, cold water or soil, and salty water • One type of Bacteria lives in water that drains from coal mines which is very acidic, and can have a pH of 1.

  4. What problems can they cause? • They can cause many diseases such as Pneumonia which is a lung infection which means that the bacteria got into your lungs and caused the air pockets in your lungs to fill up with fluid or puss. Some of the things that will happen because of the fluid build up could be a cough, trouble breathing, a fever, and the chills. • Another disease is Strep Throat. Strep throat is a bacterial disease that happens in the throat. The throat becomes inflamed and the throat gets irritated so you start to cough, and later that leads to a very sore throat. It is a very curable disease but the symptoms are only fever, and a sore throat so most people think that its just a common cold and don’t go for treatment when they really do need it.

  5. What do they look like? >> Sphere Bacteria >> ^^ Rod Bacteria ^^ >> Spiral Bacteria >>

  6. How can we prevent getting sick? • It is very easy. Just do these few simple things and you will be fine. • Wash hands frequently with soap • Cough into your sleeve, not your hand • Don’t share drinking glasses • Do not eat spoiled food. Make sure it is fresh and hasn’t been sitting out of the fridge for a long time (unless it doesn’t need to be kept in the fridge).

  7. Fun Facts • There are 100,000 bacteria on every cm2 of your body. • Bacteria can be used in a good way like in yogurt. • Some bacteria can be used to fight against other bacteria.
